LAST CALL for travel grants to Appalachian fire conference

The Association for Fire Ecology (AFE) and Consortium of Appalachian Fire Managers and Scientists (CAFMS) are hosting the Wildland Fire in the Appalachians Conference in Roanoke, Virginia October 8-10, 2013.

Students are eligible to receive travel grants (“TREE grants”) to fund their transportation, lodging, and registration costs at the fire conference, but they must hurry! The deadline for TREE applications to be received via email is Sept. 16th

This event offers academic researchers, educators, and students an opportunity to learn directly from fire professionals and practitioners discussing the special challenges of managing fire in the unique Appalachian region. Forestry and fire students will also have the chance to meet fire managers and scientists to find out about potential employment and internship opportunities, and can gain new ideas for research or theses projects.

Please help us spread the word about the Appalachian fire conference and the special opportunities available for students:

Students can volunteer at the event. Volunteers get greatly reduced registration fees. Contact Catia Juliana at office for more information on volunteering.
