Distractions from the Rain: Upcoming SER Events!

Before we all check out and eat turkey, here are some great upcoming SER events! We have events coming up in the next two weeks to work with many different schedules, so take a look!

Native Plant Nursery Work Party!
Friday, November 18th: 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Douglas Research Conservatory (DRC) at the CUH

Please join the SER-UW student nursery this Friday from 10AM-1PM for our regular weekly work party! This week we will be doing restoration work in Yesler Swamp, which is directly east of the Douglas Research Center (DRC). We will all be meeting at the DRC at 10AM to walk over together, but you’re welcome to come whenever you can. As always, snacks and cheer will be provided!

Everyone is welcome and no experience is needed. Have questions? Email us at sernursery@gmail.com.

Ivy Pull with UW Grounds!
Monday, November 21st : 12:00 – 3:00 pm
Close to the HUB (See map below!)

Hungry for more SER events during different times of the week? Need that special fix that only ecological restoration can satisfy? Do not fear, restoration events at brand-new SER sites are here!

SER-UW has partnered with UW Grounds to take over sites right on main campus! The first event at these new sites will be next Monday, November 21st from 12:00 – 3:00 pm. We will be pulling ivy and spreading mulch at a site near the HUB and Sieg Hall–check
out the map below for more information. Ivy is easy to pull and incredibly satisfying to remove, so don’t miss out on the chance to release some 2016 stress while making a difference!

Make sure to dress to get dirty and for the weather–we’ll be out rain or shine! Tools and gloves will be provided, as well as snacks for our fantastic volunteers. Everyone is welcome to drop by anytime and no experience is needed.

Native Plant Nursery Evening Class:
Monday, November 21st: 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Douglas Research Conservatory (DRC) at the CUH

Next Monday 11/21 will be the SER-UW evening class from 6:30-8PM, which is open to the public. This month’s class is titled: “Help Native Pollinators with Pollinator Pathways.” It is free (although there is a $5 suggested donation to help keep our educational programs alive) and will be in the Douglas Classroom of the DRC. Please follow the link below to RSVP to the event – we look forward to seeing you!
