POSITION: The Arkansas Forest Resources Center, University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, is seeking to fill a Program Associate position to support research and outreach in natural resource economics. This position is a 12‐month, one year appointment with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position reports to the Director of the Arkansas Forest Resources Center. The successful candidate will provide support for assigned projects through the development of data and reporting of natural resource, forestry and forest industry statistics for Arkansas, the southeast region, and nationally. Responsibilities will involve the use and integration of IMPLAN data and analysis tools; Forest Service FIA data; landowner databases; national and regional databases on outdoor recreation, hunting, and tourism; and other public and private databases concerning forest lands. The
position will also work closely with faculty and research staff of the Arkansas Forest Resources Center, the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, and various state, federal, and non-government agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree plus three years related experience or a Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as forestry, natural resources, agriculture, or economics. They should also be experienced with natural resource, forestry, or agricultural economics. The successful candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to
work both independently and as a team member. The ability to effectively interact with a diversity of
partners and constituent groups is required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
and have a valid driver’s license. The position is available as early as January 2017.
