Summer Internship with the Idaho Conservation League

North Idaho Internship

The Idaho Conservation League seeks an outgoing candidate for their summer 2017 internship program in Sandpoint, Idaho. The intern will assist ICL staff with the implementation of a wilderness stewardship program in North Idaho.

Duties: ICL is partnering with the Idaho Panhandle National Forests to implement a wilderness stewardship program on the Bonners Ferry Ranger District. ICL will recruit and deploy volunteers to inventory dispersed campsites at high mountain lakes in the proposed Selkirk Mountains Wilderness Area. Volunteers will also be recruited to rehabilitate poorly located campsites where adverse resource conditions
exist. The intern will assist ICL staff in the recruitment, deployment, and management of volunteers for this program. The intern will also be responsible for managing data collected as part of the project and other duties as assigned.

Skills and qualifications: The ideal candidate is outgoing, independent, organized, and ready to learn. Strong communication, writing, and technological skills are a must. The Forest Service will certify the intern in the use of soil and vegetative restoration techniques for this project.

Duration, hours and compensation: The internship is 10 weeks in length, June through August, for 20 hours per week, including some weekends and evenings. Stipend available.
