The Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline (NESSP) will be hosting a summit focused on inclusive STEM education from July 10 to July 14. Teachers and leaders from underserved communities will attend with the goal to exchange experiences and tap into resources they can take back.
During the 2018 NESSP STEM Educator Summit teachers and community leaders will be able to participate in group discussions, workshops, and hands-on activities designed to reflect on how to integrate the background of students into STEM education to make it more inclusive.
NASA engineers and scientist from diverse backgrounds have been invited as keynote speakers to share their vision on inclusive STEM education.
We will need volunteers to:
* Support us with supporting sessions and walking with groups around campus.
* As interpreters/translators (Spanish and English) to support attendees (Latinx teachers and community leaders).
* There is also an option to participate in a special event hosted by El Centro de la Raza, on July 9, 6pm-10pm. This is a community event open to the public where you can volunteer by having a station with hands-on activities or supporting the running stations.
If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please fill the following form.
If you are interested to participate formally instead of being a volunteer, you can register through our website.
