Position Summary :

Two Visitor Survey Technicians will coordinate with researchers at the University of

Washington (UW) and USDA Forest Service (USFS) staff to survey visitors to collect demographics

information and activity preferences for persons recreating on state and federal lands in the Middle Fork

Snoqualmie River Valley. The Survey Technicians will be stationed at identified roadside locations along

the Middle Fork Road (Forest Service Road 56) for four-hour shifts at various times and days of the week

to implement the research survey protocol. The Survey Technicians may be paired with volunteers

and/or other staff members but will also be expected to work independently.

Collected data will be provided to the University of Washington for analysis. Orientation training will be

provided by Greenway Trust, USFS, and UW staff.

Position Type & Schedule: Temporary, part-time non-exempt. Work begins approximately mid-July

through late September. Technicians will conduct 4-hour field shifts (with an additional 2 hours included

for travel to/from the site, and setup/breakdown), with 2-4 shifts weekly, for a total of 12-24 hours a

week until a total of 24 survey days have been completed. Position includes mileage reimbursement for

travel to and from survey site from Issaquah. Schedules will be agreed upon in advance and will include

a variety of mornings and afternoons on weekdays or weekends, between 8am-8pm, for the purposes of

conducting an array of survey samples.

Work Location : The Middle Fork Snoqualmie River Valley is less than an hour from Seattle, and

encompasses public lands popular for various types of outdoor recreation. The Survey Technicians will

work alongside the main road entering the valley, to interact with visitors at the end of their visit. To

Compensation: $17.00/hour. Mileage reimbursement of $0.54/mi from Mountains to Sound Greenway

field base in Issaquah to study site outside of North Bend.
